I was glad to see the Democrats get a large bucket of cold water, courtesy of the Massachusetts special election. Sadly, I don’t believe the thrashing the Republicans took in 2008 taught them anything. America can no longer afford to lurch between the two wings of the statist Big Government party. It’s encouraging to note that Scott Brown’s win had more to do with public disgust and grass-roots mobilization than it did any real effort by the RNC. Perhaps he’ll remember that, instead of getting coopted into the next attempt by the Republicans to convince America they really mean all that small-government talk. Not that I’m holding my breath. More importantly, perhaps people will stop making assumptions about what’s electorally possible, including limiting themselves to the Republicrat duopoly.
