“Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed, as they are in almost every country in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops.” – Noah Webster
Having failed to convince enough Americans that black rifles are inherently scary, evil, ominous and threatening things, the government is taking a new tack toward ‘gun control’ — restricting the availability of ammo by revising the rules:
In a move clearly intended by the Obama Administration to suppress the acquisition, ownership and use of AR-15s and other .223 caliber general purpose rifles, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives unexpectedly announced today that it intends to ban commonplace M855 ball ammunition as “armor piercing ammunition.” The decision continues Obama’s use of his executive authority to impose gun control restrictions and bypass Congress.
It isn’t even the third week of February, and the BATFE has already taken three major executive actions on gun control. First, it was a major change to what activities constitute regulated “manufacturing” of firearms. Next, BATFE reversed a less than year old position on firing a shouldered “pistol.” Now, BATFE has released a “Framework for Determining Whether Certain Projectiles are ‘Primarily Intended for Sporting Purposes’ Within the Meaning of 18 U.S.C. 921(a)(17)(c)”, which would eliminate M855’s exemption to the armor piercing ammunition prohibition and make future exemptions nearly impossible.
We’re supposed to live under a representative government, where the people have a say in what laws are passed to change their lives. Instead, we get the farce every couple of years of electing talking heads in Congress and the White House, while the real impact on our lives is made by the bureaucracy. Even worse, the current administration has made it very clear it intends to rule by executive decree, changing as much as Congress (retch) and the people allow them to in the years they have left.
AR-15s are VERY popular pieces of gear, as is the ammo associated with them (M855 ball being one of the two most popular and common types). True, they can be used for hunting and “sporting” activities, but they are also the closest thing civilians can get to standard military-grade hardware. Which is the point of the Second Amendment — not to be able to “hunt Bambi,” or plink aluminum cans with .22s, but to be able to resist when the government turns malevolent.
Given this administration’s fixation on gun control and, now, ammo control, do you think they might be concerned that people are waking up to the realization their Number One enemy isn’t al Qaeda, ISIS or any other foreign group? Rather, it’s the ruling class in
D.C. Mordor that has anything BUT the interests of the ‘average American’ at heart.
Would-be Fuehrers to the left of me, jihadists to the right… stuck in the middle with you.
