End of an era

As a student of history, I’d be remiss if I didn’t note today marks the 70th anniversary of the formal end of World War II: the Japanese surrender aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay.  Much has changed in the decades since, and even though wars and rumblings of war are a commonplace today, we’ve seen nothing like this in our day.  God willing, that will continue to be the case for generations to come.

A few months ago, a student released a video that gives a good sense of the magnitude of just what the world went through during the bloody years 1933-1945.  It’s worth a look.
