By any means necessary

The Democrats clearly do not intend to honor any facet of our system of government that does not result in their gaining power.  Senator Marco Rubio sounds the alarm:

rubio tweet

Broward County – a heavily Democratic area whose supervisor of elections illegally destroyed ballots in a previous election.  (Why is she still in the position?)  Broward County – a heavily Democratic area home to Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who (among many other things I don’t have space to list here) stated publicly there are “many things” that can be done to rig an electionBroward County – a heavily Democratic area known for being home to the “Broward Cowards” — Sherriff Israel’s police force that failed to actively intervene during the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.  (Like the supervisor of elections, the Sherriff still has his job, despite losing a vote of confidence by his own department’s union.)

The problem is not limited to the whisker-close races in Florida, either:

Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema took a narrow 9,610-vote lead over GOP Rep. Martha McSally Thursday evening as Arizona’s election authorities counted more ballots in the state’s uncalled Senate race.

…depending on the results in Arizona and Florida, the Republican majority in the next Senate could be as small as 52 seats or as big as 54. That spread could be significant on legislation and judicial confirmations over the next two years…

Especially since Senator-elect Romney will undoubtedly take the RINO role previously held by the late Senator McCain, poking his finger in his own party’s eye when it suits him.  President Trump announced before the election that the Federal Government would look closely at improper actions and allegations of fraud.  I sincerely hope they are doing so, and are prepared to make very public examples of anyone found putting their thumb on the scale.  We keep hearing that Trump’s election somehow made Democrats lose faith in our Constitutional system.  As one writer points out, that’s not the case.  They haven’t lost faith in it… they just don’t like how it gets in their way.  That’s why places like Broward County will try to continue “finding votes” until they have enough to get the election results they wanted.

This is outright attempted electoral theft.  It cannot be tolerated.  Period.  The public must demand accountability for this process.  If the Arizona and Florida races are shown to be stolen by the Democrats, the Senate MUST refuse to seat the alleged winners.

Americans have long been cynical about their own elections — but have been willing to abide by the results of record.  If that ceases to be the case (and the Democrats’ collective tantrum after 2016 was a huge step in that direction), we will have anarchy in very short order.  Are you prepared for that contingency?

Words matter

After briefly flirting with an accurate headline, the Associated Press is forced to, um, retreat:

The Associated Press on Sunday changed a headline after a backlash from liberals furious at the AP for describing a caravan of illegal immigrants heading towards the United States as an “army of migrants.”

“A ragged, growing army of migrants resumes march toward US,” read the original headline on the AP story. The AP later changed the headline to replace the word “army” with “caravan.”

Though the AP has used the word “army” to refer to large groups of people besides migrants — including nurses and political activists — many on the political left criticized the wire service for its original headline.

That would be because the original headline didn’t conceal the impact of this mass of invaders the way “caravan” does.  The Left doesn’t want people waking up to the fact that carrying a weapon is not required to be an invader.  What other term would you use to describe a group of thousands of people, carrying the flags of their (supposedly oppressive) nation of origin, who break through border barricades and refuse to heed orders of local officials?

As I’ve stated before, this is a pivotal moment. No longer are immigrants content to quietly seep across our porous borders. Now they are arriving loudly, by the thousands, proclaiming that nobody can stop them. Nor are they pretending they will “assimilate.” If this succeeds, we no longer have even the pretense of sovereignty.

Trump is said to have told the military this is a national emergency, and if true, he is correct. The enemies of our nation are looking for a confrontation that results in capitulation. This cannot be allowed. There is likely fear of the “optics” of efforts to halt this mass of people. That cannot be the deciding factor, in no small part because of the optics of NOT stopping it.

Deadly force is not necessarily the only option (though frankly, at this point I fear it may come to that). The military has a considerable number of non-lethal crowd control tools, many battle-tested in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now is the time to employ them to enforce our border. If 5,000 people march to the Rio Grande, only to have their skin heated by microwaves and eardrums blasted by sonic weapons, and have to abandon their effort, it will send a loud message that we have regained the will to control our own destiny.

If we lack that will, we should disband our armed forces. Because if this caravan army succeeds, it will only be the first of many to follow — with our nation vanquished shortly thereafter.

Playing with fire

One of the most insightful quotes I’ve read online today is this:

Many people voted for Trump reluctantly and with a tinge of regret.  What (the Left is) doing right now simply confirms they made the right choice.

Forget “Red States vs. Blue States,” or “rural vs. urban.”  The greatest divide in America today is “adults vs. juvenile delinquents.”  When you have colleges(!!) offering pet therapy and Play-Doh to calm the fragile snowflakes traumatized by the election of Donald Trump, that’s a clue why there’s a large swath of the population that simply doesn’t know what to do with defeat.  So they act out, as any two-year-old would.

This isn’t limited to college kids, either.  Lots of employees at the Environment Protection Agency are so distraught they’re taking sick days.  They don’t seem to understand that doing so reinforces the impression taxpayers already have of most of the bloated Federal bureaucracy — an impression that caused them to look for an outsider to shake things up.

They’re shaking, all right.  And Trump has yet to do anything.

Somebody needs to inform these infantile idiots that large crowds engaging in smashing random cars, lobbing Molotov cocktails and generally tearing their own city down around them tend to make enemies real fast.

I can remember during the Los Angeles riots in 1992 when Korean store owners stood guard with weapons on top of their shops to ‘encourage’ the rioters to go elsewhere.  Those riots left more than 50 people dead.

And that was one city.  Right now, literal anarchists are spreading their temper tantrum to as many cities as possible.  If this keeps up, sooner or later they’re going to meet armed resistance.  Since the police departments seem tamed by the threat of being called nasty names, that resistance is increasingly likely to come from prepared citizens who aren’t afraid to defend their “life, liberty and property.”

God only knows what will happen then.

Saturday Sounds – post-election edition

Roughly two weeks before the election, Donald Trump gave a speech at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, in which his tendency to ramble gave way to a more coherent explanation of what his agenda looks like.

I seriously doubt any of the riotous protestors, who’ve again shown their infantile inability to discuss anything seriously or soberly, have actually dissected this address and examined its contents. That’s not the Left’s way. The Left runs on emotion and demagoguery, while the ‘silent majority’ in the nation simply wants the place run on what used to be known as common sense.

This has been a painfully difficult election season.  I will admit that the speech above became a turning point for my own assessment of it.  The real question is whether Trump can — or will be allowed to — adhere to this clearly outlined agenda, or whether he’ll be co-opted by the establishment, or lose focus and once again begin to ramble and tweet rather than govern.

Much depends on the next four years.  Secession isn’t just a subject for ‘neo-Confederates’ anymore.  The bonds that have tied our nation together are breaking audibly, and it will take inspired, selfless leadership, to begin binding up the nation’s divisions.

Will Trump be up to the challenge?  Only time will tell.  Regardless, let’s remember to look at substance and not stagecraft.

The Trump has sounded

I relearned a lesson last night: I’m entirely too old to stay up past midnight watching election returns.  That said, at least I’m teaching a Government class today so I’ll just call that “lesson preparation.”  Sounds more responsible that way.

There’s every reason to believe the next stages of whatever movement this is will be:

  • Democrats will continue to support Executive Orders for their agenda while Obama still has his “pen and phone” the next couple months.  Then they will be outraged when Trump uses the same process to begin undoing the ‘fundamental transformation” of the U.S.
  • The mainstream media, whose stunning lack of curiosity the last eight years means we still don’t know anything about Obama’s college record, and very little about his mentors (Bill Ayers, “Reverend” Jeremiah Wright, etc) unless one has actively sought out such information through alternative means.  (See why you’re dying, corporate media?  Your hypocrisy and double standards for the two parties is a large part of why Trump is ascending to the White House.  Chew on that for a while.)
  • Dissent will once again be considered by Democrats the “highest form of patriotism,” instead of the last eight years where  any dissent from Obama’s agenda automatically meant you were a ‘deplorable, racist, xenophobic bigot.’
  • Any attempt to restart (or continue) the several investigations into Clinton, her Foundation, and other aspects of what is clearly a crime family syndicate will be labeled ‘demonizing your opponent,’ or an abuse of executive power.  But it was OK to say George W. Bush should have been brought up on ‘war crimes‘ charges.

In short, the Democrats will now have to refer to the Newspeak dictionary definitions they use when out of power.  As our current President liked to say, “elections have consequences.

Yes.  Yes, they do.

We now need to hold them to the standards they set the last eight-plus years.  And yes, while I still have issues with The Donald’s tendency toward verbal diarrhea, he’s shown recently that he CAN control his tongue, at least for a while.  So I wish him good luck in using all the expanded authority the Democrats created for the Presidency to smack the Left as hard as he can, all the while remembering that he’s only following precedent they set.

Perhaps a few years in the wilderness under such circumstances will bring the Democrats around to believing in limited Federal authority again.  I have no idea what the next four years hold, but it will be amusing watching the Democrats walk back their positions on activist government now that they no longer control said government.  It will also be interesting to watch a true outsider deal both with the opposition party, and the elements of the GOP who went #neverTrump and now look politically foolish.

As for Hillary: ding dong, the witch is (politically) dead, the wicked witch is dead!
